Wilmington NC Real Estate – Farmer’s Market at Poplar Grove

Does the warmer weather have you craving fresh local food? Well, you’re in luck. The Poplar Grove Farmers’ Market is open every Wednesday morning starting at 8am in front of Poplar Grove. Grand Houses of the Wilmington Area

Seeing this article on the grand houses and mansions around the world got me thinking about some of our area’s grand houses so I did a quick search in our multiple listing service for homes that were over 5,000 square feet and were either on the market currently, under contract, or had been sold within the last year.  The list was quite extensive at 170+.  I’ve decided to share the five most expensive homes with you:

How to Get Here from There

It’s surprising to me how many people come to the Wilmington area for the first time and admit they have never heard of us, only choosing their destination by checking the map for a halfway point between New York and Florida that is still on the coast.

Yes, it’s true, Wilmington is one of the nation’s best kept secrets.  It wasn’t until as recently as the early ’90s that Interstate 40 reached our area, making travel between Raleigh-Durham and Wilmington much easier.

So are you wondering the best route to take to reach us? Check out these options:

Fly ILM: The Wilmington airport, with it’s fantastic long-term parking just steps from your terminal, now offers direct flights to Atlanta, Orlando, New York, Chicago, Washington D.C and Charlotte (obviously from any of those hubs one can travel essentially anywhere in the world).

There are other popular options those visiting our area – Myrtle Beach (MYR) is a quick drive from the Wilmington and Brunswick County area and offers direct flights to many of the above cities as well as Ft. Lauderdale, Boston, Newark, Atlantic City, Detroit…. to name a few.

Raleigh-Durham, via Interstate 40 East, is just a quick 2 hour drive and offers flights to virtually all over the world!

So choose your destination, and come and see all we have to offer, from beaches, to the historic downtown. But beware: if you choose to visit for a vacation, you may decide to stay for a lifetime!

Keep an Eye on Your Credit

These days your credit rating and score can impact your ability to not only purchase a home, but it can also impact getting a job, insuring your home and/or belongings at a reasonable price. Often time problems on your credit report are mistakes or issues that can easily be taken care of.

It’s a good idea to check your credit score at least once a year through the three credit bureaus; Experian, Equafax and Trans Union. Just becausean item is not listed on one of the reports, doesn’t mean it isn’t on another and vice versa.

If there are issues that need to be disputed, be sure to keep documentation of any correspondence with the creditor.

Issues can take 90 days or more to be cleared from your credit history and reflect an improved score. Persistence is key.
